No pressure

We keep rescheduling our tasks, but what about the mental processes related to those tasks? We let it weigh on our mind today, even though it’s tomorrow’s business.

You want to live freely and efficiently, you have to unload the pressure over both the mind and the body. You can only run farther and faster only if you unload.

Work never stops. You complete one task on your to-do list, another one shows up out of nowhere. What we can stop is ‘ourselves’ in the moment. We stop to refresh or reboot our mind.

So start reducing your baggage, if you want to travel further ahead than anyone every has.

Disease and health

There are two categories of diseases. One is ‘diseases of affluence’ that inflict the rich such as heart diseases and cancer.Other is ‘diseases of poverty’ that inflict the poor such as infectious diseases or malnutrition.

Diseases of affluence happen because of abundance of unhealthy diet and diseases of poverty happen because of scarce access to healthy diet.

You do not have to be in either of these categories. Lowering unhealthy consumption and increasing healthy consumption will keep you away from both.

A very simple message right? Too obvious? If it is too simple and obvious then why do we have these diseases in the first place?

Goal attainment

To accomplish any goal, you need to overcome the physical hurdle and the psychological hurdle associated with it.

The physical hurdle is easier to overcome than the psychological hurdle because, it is something you can observe and work on directly.

We are not as adept when dealing with a psychological hurdle because, it is something that stays in the shadow, beyond the reach of human senses to detect in earlier stages.

That’s why we many times push ourselves to physical extremes without realising that we have already broken down, well and past, the psychological hurdle.

Even though we are giving our best physically, our mental self would not feel the same satisfaction since it has been damaged.

What happens there on is, even if we succeed in our physical reality, we stay in an or underwhelmed or overwhelmed state, or overall an unsatisfied state in our psyche.

What we need to do to overcome this is, treat physical and psychological as two children of our own, rather than one. Just like with children, we give them simple problems first and then progressively increase the difficulty level, we need to start with basics with our physical and psychological self, and slowly make them stronger together.

If we can join a gym to stay healthy physically, shouldn’t we also engage in a mental gym to grow psychologically?

Weight loss

Calories consumed minus Calories expended if in negative results in weight loss.Simple enough?

Well there is a problem of perception here.Instead of working on latter people work on the former to lose weight.

People starve themselves to reduce the calorie intake and in the process miss out on vital macro & micro nutrients they should be getting from food.

But you can’t blame them.To increase the number of calories expended you gotta exercise a lot and who has time & will to do just that?

Well exercise doesn’t help us lose a lot of weight,at least not as much as we are made to believe.Our BMR or base metabolic rate is responsible for most of the weight loss.BMR is used when you are just surviving really – breathing,sitting,walking,etc – any routine is included.

So have foods which are primarily rich in protein in addition to other nutrition because it takes longer to digest and keeps you full for longer period of time,burning more fat of body in the process.

If you exercise have a pre and post workout meal ready rich in protein and carbohydrates.Pre workout meal should be taken 30 minutes before as a standard and post workout meal can be eaten immediately.Protein will help build muscle mass and carbohydrates will refuel you.

Drinking and bathing in cold water can help you to boost your metabolism and increase weight loss.But drink cold water on empty stomach,not on full because it will hinder the digestion process.

And when I say weight loss I mean you should focus on fat loss rather than muscle loss.Muscles are important to carry out day-to-day activities.Fat is also good to keep body insulated and warm but too much is additional burden.

Most of the weight loss is about dietary changes.Consume fast food just once a week and rest of the week stick to your healthy diet of vegetables,legumes,lean meat,etc.

Don’t consume too many fruits as they are high on sugar.If you consume dairy and meat,make sure to choose the low-fat ones.

Appreciation

Grass always looks greener on the other side.If it’s your side everyone wants to burn it down by fooling you into doing it.Just appreciate what you have and work on it for improvement.It just a waste of time to whine about what other people have.It doesn’t give you the stuff you want,it just stuffs your brain with uselessness.

Dealing with Stress

How stress affects us depends on our response to it.

If we cower in fear and dread,the stress will overwhelm us and destroy us.

If we rise and resist the stress,we will eventually break it down before it gets to us.
