Parenting is not about shaping the child. It is more about creating an environment in which the child shapes itself.
So you don’t get to choose what the child should do or shouldn’t do.You just lay down the ground rules and let the child decide the path it wants to take.
You can teach your child what’s good or bad, what’s desirable or undesirable, what’s right or wrong BUT don’t tell them that this is an absolute reality in which they have to live.
True freedom just doesn’t come from the right to choose. One should also have the knowledge about their choices because then only they can think as a person in their own right and choose the path they want to follow.
This may sound like it’s only possible for the privileged but not really.Living in an environment deprived of choices is a downside but it allows one to create opportunities for oneself. It’s a refreshing experience in itself.
When you can afford things, you get to choose. When you can’t afford something you get the opportunity to create.People don’t create inventions because they don’t need them. They create them because they feel their lives are lacking something and add meaning to it.
Not having something is not necessarily a disadvantage. It is an opportunity to create something with your own hands. On the other hand, having almost everything gives us an opportunity to explore more and learn to create.
Freedom is about having a choice. But I think it should exclude harming oneself or another.
Well not harming others is obvious. It becomes chaotic when there’s fight between people. The more violence, the more tendency towards lawlessness.
About oneself, keeping sanity or insanity of the mind, one may debate about suicide or euthanasia.I don’t think they are about ‘harming’ oneself,it is more like the person’s will to be relieved from pain. It’s absurd that societies criminalise these practices because the real problem does not lie in the action itself but the reason why such action is taking place. If everything was okay why would the person take such a step? I think these problems can be better solved by modifying our society, not our laws.
We shouldn’t follow traditional rules.Old rules are made for old times. We live in a new world. This is our society. It does not belong to our ancestors who already lived through their whole lives. They created this world so we could remain happy. And you know what? We can choose our own way to peace and joy.Old rules are reminder to what new is to come.Change is inevitable. The main question is – are we ready to take action or not?
You can never satisfy the whole world. But you can just satisfy yourself.
People who can’t sacrifice anything – cannot bring change.
It’s never a war of right and wrong. It’s always a war of ideals.
Is the price of freedom high? Depends. It depends on who you are.It depends on what you have.It depends on what you want.
Some of us are not born free, yet they feel free.Contented with what they have.
Some of us can have anything they wish for,yet they feel chained.
The price is never the same.It wasn’t earlier. It isn’t now.It keeps changing as we grow.As we learn. As we change.
A newborn baby isn’t free to eat whatever it desires. It acquires that right later on in life. But it doesn’t mean that right stays forever. As it grows older and older, they lose that right when they die.Or even earlier due to health or economic constraints.
You just can’t earn and keep forever. You have to KEEP EARNING your freedom. You have to KEEP EARNING your place.Because if you don’t,one day it will be too late to do anything about it.Not only you will lose what you wanted to own,but also what you already owned. You will lose everything.
You may not have the freedom to choose but you’ll always have the freedom to reject.
Earning one’s freedom is essential. What we earn,we use with care. What we get,we use with ease.
Those who consider freedom is expendable are doomed to subjugation. Those who understand its essence – never bow down.
You have the choice to let your freedom wither away. Not everyone has the will nor the brawn to fight for it.But if you are willing to do so,you must prepare yourself for consequences.
In fact,it is quite common to give up on freedom.Addiction, for instance,is one way away from freedom. You start off with a small step and go down the spiral only to find that you can never go back again to being who you were.
People can take their freedom back,of course. But the way back is as painful as it was pleasing in the first place.
For some of us,freedom was taken away and not willingly given up.Some of us were not even born free. The existence of freedom becomes more abstract than reality of reality.
We must help them understand. We must help them remember. We must teach them what freedom is.Once they know the feeling of being free, they will give their all to earn it back. What we earn,we use with care. What we get,we use with ease.
The only thing I look forward to the end of the day,is to become a better person than I was yesterday, even if it is just by a small fraction.
