Darkness is not just absence of light. It’s also absence of hope.
It’s never a war of right and wrong. It’s always a war of ideals.
To attain your goal keep your fire burning. However small. However hidden.
There are two ways to make change possible – in both cases you need to become ‘big’ relative to the task.
Either you grow your knowledge and skill – become an expert at doing something.
Or you shrink the challenge – you divide your goal into smaller individual attainable actions.
Either way,you become more daunting than the task itself.Do not fear the task.Let the task dread you and follow your way instead.
Once you become capable or believe that you have become capable – your chances of succeeding increase significantly.
As we become an adult, logic becomes a norm and creativity something unique. As a child it is the other way round. To us some of their endeavour may seem fruitless, but what they do all the time is completely new to them, and that’s important. They don’t hesitate to try because they don’t understand the cost that risk bears.Who do you think is more vulnerable? Us or a baby? Of course, the latter. Our mental faculty helps us to assess and averse the risk but not take it head on because we are afraid of the consequences. We have more tools that a kid does to get ourselves back on the track, yet they are the ones taking more risks than us.We understand our risks and have a greater ability to deal with them yet we take a step back.It doesn’t seem that we just evolve from childhood to late adulthood but more like evolve-devolve,for both good and bad.
Impossible tasks get on our nerves because we can’t do them. But when we make them possible, they give meaning to our lives.
There’s a tradeoff between acknowledging new ideas and sharing new ideas. Both cannot exist without each other. Our democracy wouldn’t exist without them.If you can’t be tolerant to other people’s ideas, you cannot share your idea freely. You don’t have to accept everything, just learn to respect everyone’s freedom and opinion.Their experience of life has been very different from yours. They weren’t born with an ideology, they chose it along the way due to the circumstances. If their view has a tendency to harm others, then change their circumstances.Trying to change their belief will only lead to resistance. You have to remove corruption from its roots.Because shorenting a plant will only drive it grow further and further for survival.
I recently read about a clinical case.It was about a patient who smoked regularly and slept while sucking at a pacifier in mouth. He went to a therapist thinking that a session of hypnosis was needed for him to get out of these habit. The therapist knew that hypnosis wasn’t going to work out based on the data gathered in previous similar studies. But he did it anyways to put his client’s mind at ease.
Surprisingly,it worked! Keeping aside the controversial debate on the effectiveness of hypnosis, this case shows that the patient’s belief in a cure regardless of the evidence that backed it outweighed the therapist’s expertise and previous established case studies. Thus, what patient believed mattered more to the treatment than what therapist’s experience said would work.
Power of belief can turn even poison into medicine. No matter how good your current treatment is,if you don’t believe in it,then you’re bound to lose. But if you take every hardship in life as a blessing in disguise, you’ll be the winner of all.
