Smile is the way to happiness

Hi there! Today’s post is a little different than usual. I want to share a personal experience, rather a practice that servers as a happiness reminder.

Here it goes: as soon as you wake up in the morning, start your day with a SMILE. If you put a few conscious minutes into sculpting your face with a U-curvature, you’ll carry it with you for the rest of the day.

Little skeptical there? Let me share an analogy. When you wear fine, comfortable clothes after freshing up in the morning; that’s an investment you make for the rest of the day. You wear those clothes until the next day (or at least for a measurable amount of time) and until then you experience the comfort they provide (and some wows from strangers around you). You check yourself out in the mirror when you dress up, but we don’t get to check in over and over once we get into the routine of our day. But that doesn’t change the fact that your body and mind are at the highest comfort level due to the choice of your dress.

I have discovered something amazing with the morning smiling practice. Once I dress up my face with a smile, and maintain it consciously for a little while, then throughout the day that smile is stuck to my face, even when I am not paying attention to it. We go into an automatic mode with our life, but with that smile stuck to the face, you go at life with your best self. You’ll notice that smile time when you take a break from your work, and THAT will serve as a reminder for you to feel happy and reinforce that smile.

Smiling is an exercise. You do it enough, you will build the right muscles for it, and you’ll find it easier to smile the next day, the day after that and so forth. It will change the way you look, it will change the way others see you, and it will change your perspective on your life by building a world around you of positive focus.
