Serve

Everything happens for a reason. This idea takes away your sense of purpose. It takes away the blame on you.It takes away the fruit of your effort.Because it implies that someone does everything for all so you don’t need to do anything for you at all.

  1. I totally agree! It is also a frustrating philosophy, as it implies that our efforts to improve ourselves, to make good choices, to do anything worthwhile are potentially useless, because they may not fit with some great master plan where everything has a reason and a destiny, and free will is futile.

  2. Yes and no. Its a tricky little sentence. One could say, barring the faith angle, that everything DOES happen for a reason; if you succeed, it is because of your hard work. If you don’t succeed, one could argue that it is because you were lazy, or that perhaps you worked hard but didn’t plan for a certain circumstance. Personally, I kind of feel that in both the faith-based argument, and the work-related one, there IS a factor of free will, because you can choose to let yourself fall away and ignore your ambitions, or resist opportunities for kindness. In most religions, the general belief is that you have the option to take the high road, or just be a jerk, but you will always be presented with opportunities for both. No matter what you believe or what happens in your life, what becomes of you is at least in part due to your life choices and their consequences, therefore, there is reason. This is just my take on the subject. Your argument is also valid, and raises some good points as well. 🙂👍

I believe that everyone has a role to play.I just don’t know whether it is a part of the big game or it is a part of you because you’re unique.
